Frequently Asked Questions

What is an EULA?

Like most software, fonts come with specific terms of use, often called an End User License Agreement (EULA). Each software developer has their own terms of use, and the EULA specifies what is and is not allowed when using the fonts. For example, the Fontfabric? EULA specifies that you can use licensed fonts for an unlimited amount of time, but you cannot give them to people who don?t have a license to use our fonts. You must agree to the EULA before buying and using the fonts.

Who needs to license fonts?

Fonts are software, which means that everyone who uses them needs to have a license (EULA). If a designer is doing graphic work for a client, it is the designer (end user), not the client who needs to buy a font license. If clients wish to use the fonts as well, then they too need to buy their own licenses.

How our Fontfabric? Free Font license works

Please read our Fontfabric? Free Font End User License Agreement – it is a legally binding document. The main points of the license are:

1. The standard license allows commercial usage like logo production, all types of print (booklets, magazines, t-shirts, etc.), web and digital usage.

2. You can back up the font data, (in fact your Fontfabric online account is a backup of the latest versions of the fonts), but you may not modify the fonts in any way.

3. You can not create other fonts based on our fonts. You also can not sell or rent modified versions of our fonts.

4. You can embed fonts into PDF and Flash files for free, but you must set embedding to prevent font extraction.

5. Fontfabric fonts are copyrighted and protected by trademark.

6. If you violate these terms, this agreement will be cancelled.

7. You may not transfer the font license to a third party.

8. Free fonts do not include regular support.

Standard Licensing

The purchase of standard commercial licenses (such as: Desktop, Webfont, Digital Ads, Mobile App, Server & ePub) are offered through the resellers we work with (i.e. MyFonts, Fontspring, etc.)

Broadcasting / Corporate / Gaming licensing

Since broadcasting, corporate and gaming licenses include more specific details, such as countries of usage or the number of titles and downloads, we recommend that you drop us a line at?[email protected] and discuss them based on your specific needs.

Media Use

As a licensed user of Fontfabric fonts you can use them for all your projects as long as you comply with the license agreement. Fontfabric offers separate font licenses for different applications. There is no limit to the types of media used; you can incorporate the fonts in print, video, on a website, etc. You can not, however, distribute the fonts to third parties.

Number of Reproductions

There is no restriction on the number of reproductions you are allowed to create using the licensed fonts, so you can create a single print or millions of prints.

There are no time restrictions on using the fonts, so you can use them for as long as you wish.

Font Modification

We do not allow others to modify our fonts, but we are open to user requests and can customise our fonts for a reasonable fee. Please contact us for details.

PDF Embedding

The embedding of fonts in PDF documents is allowed.

Custom Fonts

Fontfabric has more than 10 years of experience in designing custom type. This may include modifications of our retail fonts, the creation of different language versions (Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic, etc.), or entirely new fonts made to fit your needs.

The price estimate for a custom typeface consists of two components: 1) the development cost of the typeface, which we calculate based on the estimated time required, and 2) the licensing fee, which is determined by the client?s request. There are three different licensing possibilities: a non-exclusive license (the custom typeface can be used by other people), a partially-exclusive license (fonts are exclusive only for a limited period of time, e.g. 2 or 5 years), or an exclusive license (the client buys out the rights to the fonts forever).

For more information please get in touch: [email protected]

Font Customization

In specific cases we can customise our fonts. For example: if a certain font is perfect for your situation, but you require a different letter ?k? or ?&? glyph, Fontfabric can design and implement alternatives based on your needs. In addition to the cost of the standard license which you have probably already paid, you will be also charged the costs of the modifications. Please do get in touch with us to discuss your needs.

Since fonts are protected by copyright law and licence agreements, we cannot modify other type foundries? fonts. In such cases please contact the copyright holder to request modifications.
